For instance, Reese Witherspoon and Jim Toth surprised fans when they released a joint statement on Instagram announcing their divorce just two days before their 12th wedding anniversary. ‘We have some personal news to share… It is with a great deal of care and consideration that we have made the difficult decision to divorce,’ the former couple wrote in an Instagram announcement on Friday, March 24. ‘We have enjoyed so many wonderful years together and are moving forward with deep love, kindness and mutual respect for everything we have created together.’

‘Our biggest priority is our son and our entire family as we navigate this next chapter,’ the statement continued. ‘These matters are never easy and are extremely personal. We truly appreciate everyone’s respect for our family’s privacy at this time.’ The pair have one biological son together, son, Tennessee James. Reese also has two children with her ex-husband, Ryan Phillippe: a daughter, Ava, and a son, Deacon.

On March 4, news broke that Tom had been enjoying a months-long affair with their ‘Vanderpump Rules‘ co-star Raquel Leviss. Tom and Ariana were together for nine years at that point.

Tom went on to share two separate apologies on his Instagram feed — the first to his Schwartz & Sandys co-owners and staff for how his behavior may affect them, and the second to Ariana for treating her so poorly. Raquel also apologized to Ariana and said she is working on her ‘patterns of codependency and addiction to being and feeling loved’.

Ariana, for her part, thanked her fans and friends for being there for her during such a hard time. ‘So many of my closest friends are also grieving this loss right now and reeling from this betrayal on so many levels,’ she said at the end of her lengthy statement. ‘I am so f****** lucky to have the best support system in the world and I hope I can repay every single person for the love you have shown me. What doesn’t kill me better run.’
