The culotte has arrived — and it is certainly here to stay! Not only was it all over the Spring 2015 runways, but the stylish celeb set loves stepping out in the billowing trend. Want to try it? SHOP for it right here.
I must admit that when I first saw the culotte emerge during New York Fashion Week while I was at the Spring 2015 shows I was hoping that it was a rare sighting — but clearly that wasn’t the case! I completely understand the reservations that surround suiting up in the style. Sure, they look great on Kendall Jenner, but what doesn’t? Although you may be weary of giving them a second chance, I definitely think it is time to try it out — and not only do I have the perfect tips for how to pull off the look, but you can SHOP these stylish culottes in every price range if you want to get the look.
Culottes For Spring 2015 — How To Wear The Hot Trend:
The best way to wear the culotte? Go glam! The trend is a great alternative to a flowing summer frock or jumpsuit, but can still look just as appropriate and chic. I suggest rocking a tailored, high-waisted pair and sporting it with a heel — nothing too clunky, though! Take a note from Willow Shields and rock the style with a pointy pump or an ankle-strap sandal — avoid anything super strappy because you don’t want to take away from your bare leg…and often times that will cut you off; it is all about elongating the look.
If you love showing off in crop tops, you should totally go for it while in culottes. Think they’re just for model types like Kendall? Guess again! If you’re curvy pair them with a fitted crop top or bandeau, which will draw attention to your waist and midriff — and the hint of skin will break up the look in a flattering, (and fierce!), way.
For all the petite gals out there, your best bet is to select a pair with a shorter hemline…or a pair that almost looks like a circle skirt! You’ll be surprised by how much you love the look, (it’s all about jumping in, one leg at a time!).
Although I think I’ve made a strong case for culottes, I’m sure not everyone has fallen in love with the trend. In that case, don’t splurge! Scoop up an affordable pair so you can play around with the new look without breaking the bank — and regardless of what you spend, pay attention to the fit, (especially when pairing them with a crop top!). The way the outfit fits your frame singlehandedly can make or break any look.
The wide-leg bottoms can also look super chic if you’re keeping it casual. Simply tuck in your favorite tee and a pair of flat summer sandals and you’re good to go. The flowing silhouette will keep you looking, (and feeling), totally cool.
