Seeing is not believing! When a pro-Trump Twitter used a bloody photo of a woman to claim that she was beaten up at a Donald Trump rally in California, the Internet went totally nuts over it — until Bruce Campbell stepped in to debunk the hoax. Check it out!
A female Donald Trump supporter was beaten and bloodied by protestors at a rally in San Jose, CA…or was she? The popular account Conservative Nation tweeted out a gory photo on June 6, in which an alleged victim of violence at a rally is covered in blood. However, it turns out that the pic isn’t real at all. Find out why!
Don’t believe everything you read! The photo is actually of actress Samara Weaving doing “a make-up test” for the comedy horror TV show Ash VS. Evil Dead, according to the show’s star: “Check your facts, folks. This is an actress named Samara Weaving from #AshVsEvilDead. This is a make-up test. Sad,” Bruce Campbell tweeted on June 7. Conservative Nation had used the photo to manipulate followers into thinking it was a Trump supporter, captioning the bloody pic: “Here’s what happened to female Trump supporter when she met ‘peaceful’ and ‘tolerant’ liberals.” Nice try!
It’s easy to see why pro-Trump organizations can nearly get away with actions like this. There’s a history of violence at Trump’s rallies, including at the California GOP convention near San Francisco on April 29, where protestors attacked Trump’s motorcade, toppled barricades and forced Trump to leave his car and cross the highway surrounded by security. Then there was the rally in New Mexico on May 24, where protestors threw bottles and rocks at police officers — officials had to use smoke bombs to break up the violence. So terrifying!
HollywoodLifers, do you think it’s crazy that this photo was used as propaganda?
