Talk about side eye! Taylor Swift launched into a major women’s empowerment speech upon winning Album of the Year, but not everyone in the audience was feeling it, most obviously Tori Kelly who was caught with the most priceless reaction! Read on for more details.
Over it! That was the best way to describe singer Tori Kelly‘s annoyed-looking reaction to the inspiring Grammy speech Taylor Swift, 26, gave about how women should never let other people take credit for their well-deserved success. The 23-year-old clearly wasn’t feeling Taylor’s message, but unlike anyone else in the audience who may have felt the same way, the camera cut away to the “Should Have Been Us” singer and her emotions were written all over her face!
It looks like Tori won’t be the latest addition to Taylor’s infamous girl squad if her audience reaction to Taylor’s passionate Album of the Year acceptance speech was any indication. Taylor was delivering an epic women’s empowerment speech – not entirely humble as she noted was the first woman to win the category twice – the camera trailed on a cutaway of Tori, and it proved not everyone was moved. Well, then again Tori did lose out as Best New Artist to Meghan Trainor, 22, earlier in the night so maybe she was just still smarting over it. Taylor used her Album of the Year acceptance speech to put the music industry on blast, noting that, “As the first woman to win Album of the Year at the Grammys twice, I want to say to the young woman out there, there are going to be people along the way who try to undercut your success or take credit for your accomplishments or your fame,” she announced, which came across as a total swipe at Kanye West, 38.
“But if you just focus on the work and you don’t let those people sidetrack you, someday when you get where you’re going, you will look around and you will know it was you and the people who love you who put you there, and that will be the greatest feeling in the world,” she added. Great message Taylor, even if not everyone in the house was feeling it!
