ASAP Rocky (born as Rakim Mayers on October 3, 1988) is an American rapper from Harlem, New York City, who started rapping at age 8. When ASAP was 12, his father went to jail in connection with selling drugs; he died in 2012. When ASAP was 13, his brother was killed in Harlem. The death inspired ASAP to take rapping more seriously. Rocky released his debut mixtape Live. Love. ASAP, in 2011 to critical acclaim. The success of his mixtape led to a record deal with Polo Grounds Music, RCA Records, and Sony Music Entertainment. He subsequently recorded his 2013 debut album Long. Live. ASAP, which was also well received by critics and debuted at number one on the Billboard 200. His most recent album release was in 2018, titled TESTING.

ASAP Rocky began dating Australian rapper Iggy Azalea in late 2011, but by July 2012, he announced that they were no longer together. The rapper eventually settled down with Rihanna , and the couple now has two sons, RZA and Riot. Aside from his dating life, ASAP is currently facing legal troubles.
