After a half-hearted 2020 presidential campaign where he had a tear-filled emotional breakdown at his only official rally, Kanye West hopes to be better organized when the 2024 election rolls around. The rapper/designer turned church leader still thinks he has what it takes to be the leader of the free world. The 43-year-old also thinks that wife Kim Kardashian, 40, will absolutely crush it in the role of first lady. “Kanye will be involved in the election in 2024, he wants to be all over it,” a source close to Yeezy tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY.
“He thinks that Kim would be an amazing first lady and now that they have four years to figure it out, Kanye is going to make sure he is ready for the run,” the insider continued. “He is taking it seriously even if others think it is a joke. It is his next dream to become a reality. He is going full force into all of that and will be figuring it out the next few years.”
Though Kanye teased running for president over the years — initially declaring his 2020 run at the 2015 MTV VMAs — he decided to actually make a go of it in a July 4, 2020 announcement. But by that point he’d missed the cut-off deadlines to appear on the ballot in numerous states, and most primaries had already come and gone. He also didn’t set up a typical campaign with a staff, agenda platform, or anything else that candidates truly invested in wanting to become president do. Kanye himself wasn’t even a registered voter until July 9, 2020.
Ye just had a vague slogan that read #2020VISION. Yeezy’s “2020 run” was so chaotic it had stars like Jennifer Aniston pleading with fans, “It’s not funny to vote for Kanye. I don’t know how else to say it. Please be responsible.” Jamie Foxx called Kanye a “clown” for trying to get involved as a presidential candidate in the tight race between Donald Trump and Joe Biden. At Yeezy’s only campaign rally on July 19 in North Charleston, SC, he broke down on stage and went off in a tangent about how he wanted to abort his first child with Kim, seven-year-old daughter North West, and that it would be okay for Kim to divorce him after he made the revelation.
The “rally” was the start of a downhill spiral for Kanye where he went on Twitter rants about wanting to divorce Kim and how he was afraid she and her mom Kris Jenner were trying to have him “locked up.” The KKW Beauty founder later explained that Kanye was having a bi-polar episode and pleaded with fans for their understanding. Eventually they took a family vacation to work things out, and things have seemed to calm down on the Kardashian-West home front.
“Things between Kim and Kanye are a lot better, she’s very relieved. She’s really looking forward to the holidays and having a happy and peaceful time with her family,” a second source tells us EXCLUSIVELY. “Kanye’s still planning to run in the election in 2024, but it’s not something Kim’s too focused on right now. That being said she is supportive, she knows where his heart is and all the good he wants to do. But right now her mind is on this year, not four years from now,” our insider adds.
