Mind-blowing! After an incredible 2016 MLB season, and an insane game seven, the Chicago Cubs have beat the Cleveland Indians in the World Series and fans are completely losing it online. Check out all the crazy Twitter love from Cubbies baseball fans and celebs alike who have waited 108 years for this championship win!
This was a World Series for the ages, and game seven was SUCH a nail-biter! No wonder the Chicago Cubs fans went absolutely berserk Nov. 2 with all the drama after the game went into extra innings when things were tied up at 6-6. A merciful rain delay at the top of the 10th turned out to be exactly what the Cubs needed after blowing a big lead. They managed to pick up two runs, but Cleveland wasn’t about to stop fighting for the win. They managed to pick up one run before a Cubs pitcher change out led to the final play of the game, with an infield grounder putting the final score at 8-7 and leading to the team’s first World Series win in 108 years!
For some fans, they literally waited a lifetime to see the Cubs win the World Series. The idea was so far-fetched that they could ever become the champions that it was joked about in 1985’s classic film Back to the Future. Marty and Doc time travelled ahead to 2015 and the Cubs were in the World Series, causing them total shock and disbelief. So many people were pulling for the Cubs to finally win this thing that during the 2016 CMAs, the score was announced from the stage when they were up 4-1 and the entire audience erupted in applause. The Cubbies are officially America’s Team after being written off for so long, and the celebration was all over Twitter, with so much love and tears!
