Behind The Candelabra was the cable event of the year, and it absolutely did not disappoint. Michael Douglas stars as the flamboyant entertainer Liberace, and Matt Damon dumbs down as his secret young lover, Scott Thorson. In a movie designed to be as decadent as the subject himself, there are many moments we are totally obsessed with and have to analyze. Liberace & Scott’s Love Scenes

Liberace had a healthy sexual appetite, and Matt and Michael pull no punches in the graphic sex scenes. Although the actors shine in emotionally tortured moments in the film’s third act, their portrayals of physical love are so brave.

Incredible Costumes & Hair

The film pays tribute to the late-’70s and early-’80s time period through an over-the-top recreation of the Vegas style. Much like Liberace himself, the rhinestone-studded outfits and feathered coifs absolutely DEMAND your attention.

Rob Lowe’s Magical Face

The Parks and Recreation star is hilarious as Liberace’s seedy plastic surgeon, Dr. Jack Startz. Jack’s role becomes increasingly sinister as he gets Scott hooked on drugs, but we just can’t stop staring at his lovely mug:

The Spellbinding Musical Numbers

Although his personal life was a mess, Liberace was undoubtedly a gifted pianist and entertainer. It was great to get glimpses into his onstage spectacles, and Michael once again showed his gifts by making the concert scenes come to life.

Liberace’s Final Act

Several years after his relationship with Scott imploded, Liberace died of AIDS-related complications — but not before bringing Scott back to his mansion to visit one last time. Looking painfully thin, Michael’s rapport with Matt showcases some of their finest acting. Love, loss and anger are rarely portrayed with such honesty, and it’s a sobering end to an otherwise rollicking production.

On February 12, Matt Damon held a dramatic press conference in which he originally announced his “toilet strike.” This latest PSA comes as a follow up to Jessica Biel, Jason Bateman and Josh Gad’s March 13 declaration to show their support for the Toilet Strike. Branson, Wilde and Bono are the latest to commit to take action in an attempt to accelerate movement towards providing safe water and sanitation to the 2.5 billion people who do without.

“I want to support creative organizations that truly impact the lives of those in need, particularly those living in extreme poverty,” says Wilde. “Water.org makes a real difference around the world, and in Haiti, a country that I care deeply about. The Toilet Strike is a creative campaign I can get behind, capturing people’s attention and building a social community.”

In the PSA, Branson, Wilde and Bono express their support for the strike, and divulge how Damon convinced them to take action against the water crisis. Bono reveals, “I remember when Matt first brought up the idea. It was a meeting of the Illuminati, actually.” Branson, Wilde and Bono remark on the heated nature of the conversation that ensued, and how they were ultimately won over by Damon’s plea.Co-founder of Water.org, Damon makes an appearance in the PSA, inviting all to “Join the millions of famous people who’ve already joined” his strike.

We are used to seeing sexy hot tub scenes on The Bachelor, but not ones with Matt Damon and Michael Douglas! Michael, 68, stars as the famous American pianist Liberace in HBO’s highly anticipated new film Behind The Candelabra, and there is glitter, champagne and sweet, sweet music. Watch the teaser here!

‘Behind The Candelabra’ Teaser — New Video

Michael plays the famous entertainer in the new film which will air on HBO on May 26, and Matt, 42, plays his younger lover Scott Thorson. While focusing on his career as America’s best pianist, the film also highlights Liberace’s controversial personal life, including his penchant for younger men and his fascination with plastic surgery.

“He was the biggest act in the world, and the whole time, petrified of his secret coming out,” Matt told EW about the film. “You see him in the movie going to a sex store — nowadays, he’d be [exposed] on Twitter so fast.”

Michael weighed in about playing such an iconic character and said “Of course, you’re never gonna be as good as he was.”

Michael’s face had to be digitally grafted onto a professional piano player’s for the movie because he does not play to that standard, but he sure rehearsed a lot!

“The moment I knew we were fine was the Sunday before we started shooting,” said Matt. “Michael had a brunch at his house, and his son [Dylan] sat up in front of everybody and did the entire monologue with the [piano-playing] hand movements and everything. And I thought, ‘Oh my God. I can’t imagine how much Michael has been rehearsing for his 11-year-old son to be able to actually do the thing!’”

Our source was also quick to tell us which celebs will be making the trek to upcoming wedding, saying, “Some celebs that are a lock to go are Ben & Casey Affleck, George Clooney, Billy Bob Thornton and Gus Van Sant. It won’t be a surprise at the end of the day on who else will be going to the wedding in the celebrity department, because everyone knows Matt’s friends. But more friends that aren’t famous will be going, those he actually grew up with will be there. And let’s not forget, it’s not just his wedding, it’s their wedding. Luciana will be having a lot more of her non-celeb friends attending as well.”

The problem is that right after the small wedding, Matt had to fly to London to start shooting The Good Shepherd, and he had said: “I guess we’ll have our honeymoon there.”

We think that this is pretty awesome that they want to have a bigger ceremony. These two are totally devoted to each other and they no doubt deserve it!

Ben Affleck and his film Argo has been the movie to beat during award season, so who better to celebrate all his and the films success then with his best friend Matt Damon and Moet & Chandon!

This weekend at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival, actors and longtime friends Ben Affleck and Matt Damon celebrated Ben’s ‘Modern Master’ award in the Moet & Chandon Lounge. Following the festival, the pair toasted with Moet & Chandon minis and caught up while celebrating Ben’s award. To congratulate Ben on his exciting achievement, Moet & Chandon presented the actor/director with a crystalized jeroboam of Moet, with Ben exclaiming that it was too nice to pop open, but that he’d happily chip away at the golden crystals!

The following day, Daniel Day-Lewis was honored with the SBIFF’s ‘Montecito Award,’ which he celebrated by reuniting with director Michael Mann inside the Moet & Chandon Lounge where they enjoyed a glass of Moet before going on stage. Iconic actress Sally Field presented Daniel with the award, literally jumping into his arms on the stage.

It was easily the place to be and thanks to Moet & Chandon, how’d could it not have been?

Halloween came a little bit early for Matt Damon and his daughters Isabella, 6, and Gia, 4! The happy family was spotted trick-or-treating in NYC on Oct. 28.

Both girls dressed as princesses in long dresses tiaras. They both faced the chilly weather in equally cute matching rain jackets.

With Hurricane Sandy threatening to ruin New Yorkers’ Halloween plans, Matt and his family got their fill of Halloween candy a bit early. His wife, Luciana, was also along for the family outing.

How adorable! We hope they had a great Halloween.
