It took her four long weeks, but Sookie (Anna Paquin) finally got some action on the July 1 episode of True Blood — and, really, what is a season of this show without a handful of Sookie sex scenes? So which of Sookie’s many supernatural suitors was given access to her “super snatch”?

Alcide (Joe Manganiello)! After a super-intense day — Alcide told Debbie’s parents that Marcus killed her, and Sookie almost died when Lafayette’s (Nelsan Ellis) inner demon cursed her car — Sookie and Alcide washed their cares away with everything in her liquor cabinet. Cue the makeout sesh.

Point of awkwardness: Bill (Stephen Moyer) and Eric (Alexander Skarsgard) were totally watching Sookie and Alcide hooking up from outside her window. It’s actually kind of funny because, if you think back to last season, there was a super-awkward episode where Alcide watched Sookie have sex with Eric! (My how the tables have turned.)

Eric’s lady problems continued with Pam (Kristin Bauer Van Straten), who he officially “released” this week. It was a heartbreaking scene, as Pam fell into his arms and wept, reminding us once again how close they really are. Eric and Pam have never worn their hearts on their sleeves, but this whole season has shown them in a new light, and I’m loving it.

I’m also loving the fairies this season, who we saw a lot more of this week. Jason (Ryan Kwanten) and Andy (Chris Bauer) were taken to a fairy sex club, which we later learned was actually hideout from the vampires who wanted to nom on their tasty golden blood. Jason bumped into his cousin Hadley (Lindsey Haun), who begged him to bring Sookie to her so she’d be safe. This is going in a very cool direction, I can feel it in my bones…

Meanwhile, Sam’s (Sam Trammell) old shifter friends invited him back into the group — it was really weird seeing them in public, and fully clothed — but when he went to meet them that night, Sam discovered they’d both been killed. Any guesses? My first thought was a shifter, possibly even Luna (Janina Gavankar), but it looked like they both suffered bullet wounds. Not exactly her M.O.

And in “does anyone really care about this story line” news, Terry (Todd Lowe) and Patrick (Scott Foley) arrived at their old army buddy’s hideaway, where they discovered proof he’d been behind the fires. They also discovered their buddy, pointing a gun at them. I really hope this gets interesting, quickly. There’s so much else going on that it’s really hard to care about Terry and his nonsense.

Back at Authority H.Q., Nora (Lucy Griffiths) finally cracked and ratted out the traitor, who turned out to be pint-sized chancellor Alexander (Jacob Hopkins)! But even his tiny cuteness couldn’t protect him from Roman (Chris Meloni) who, without hesitation, delivered the true death and left the entire council covered in Alexander’s blood.

Sometimes politics get messy. (If only C-Span was this entertaining…)

HBO has released its first full-length trailer for the upcoming fifth season of True Blood, which finds the residents of Bon Temps in some pretty twisted scenarios — and I’m not just talking about Hoyt’s (Jim Parrack) goth makeup. Sookie (Anna Paquin) also finally appears to be giving in to Alcide’s (Joe Manganiello) advances, while Bill (Stephen Moyer) sees a little action of his own. Oh, and did I mention we finally see Russell Edgington (Denis O’Hare) in all his glory?

Ladies, we have some good news for you! True Blood wolf hunk Joe Manganiello has reportedly broken off his engagement with his fiancee Audra Marie and is back on the prowl. Insert your howls here!

A source told US Weekly of the split saying, “It was a long time coming. They’ll both be better off for it.”

Joe, 34, and Audra, a model and actress, were engaged last fall, but apparently their relationship fell apart as she tried to rush the marriage and he got cold feet.

“He [was] clearly having reservations,” another insider said.

With award season right around the corner, we’re confident Joe — who was a construction worker before he became an actor — will find another lady who suits his fancy. Who do YOU think would be his perfect match?

Five deaths, two disappointed vampires and one unsettling return added up to a seriously mind-blowing True Blood season finale. And while I predict a lot of fans have a bad taste in their mouth after the Sept. 11 episode, I loved every minute — and more importantly — every twist.

Let’s start with death number one: Jesus (Kevin Alejandro!) Still possessed by Marnie (Fiona Shaw), Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis) knifed his brujo lover in order to absorb his freaky demonic powers. He then silver-chained Bill (Stephen Moyer) and Eric (Alexander Skarsgard) to a pyre, and while I won’t poo-poo the gratuitously shirtless eye candy, I’d rather our vamps not be on the brink of death for once.

Fortunately Sookie (Anna Paquin), Tara (Rutina Wesley) and Holly (Lauren Bowles) arrived to save the day! Taking advantage of Halloween’s natural magic, the trio busted out a spell to use their dead ancestors against Marnie. I never thought I’d see Sookie’s little Gran physically pull a human out of another human, but hey, anything goes on True Blood.

Once the madness died down — pun intended — it was time for Sookie to deal with what really matters in life: choosing between Bill and Eric! Using her head, for once, Sookie confessed that even though she loved both vampires, her best option was to let them both go and see what a single life has to offer her. (Personally, I think her best option would have been another threesome, but hey, I just want her to be happy.)

Meanwhile, far away from the chaos, Jason (Ryan Kwanten) and Jessica (Deborah Ann Woll) had themselves a hot little Halloween. After coming clean to Hoyt (Jim Parrack), Jason was free to ravage Little Red Riding Hood to his heart’s content. After she left, Jason was visited by another familiar face — Steve Newlin! He’s back, and he’s a freakin’ vampire! (Sorry, did I say Jason was “far away from the chaos?” I guess I spoke too soon.)

Arlene (Carrie Preston) finally got her long-awaited visit from René this week, but it didn’t go quite as she expected. Instead of attacking her, or even mentioning one word about the baby they share together, he came to deliver a warning — about Terry (Todd Lowe)! He said he’s seen the ghosts of Terry’s past, and that she should run while she can. Hmm… Could this have anything to do with his old war buddy (Scott Foley) showing up in Bon Temps?

Nan Flanagan (Jessica Tuck) also met her untimely demise this week, surprisingly, at the hands of King Bill. She informed Bill and Eric that she quit her job and was planning to rebel against the Authority, joined by a faction of vampires who have been plotting a move for quite some time. But it was her calling them both “puppy dogs” for Sookie that drove them both over the edge. And as much as I loved Nan, I think Eric said it best while standing over her lifeless puddle. “What a bitch.”

Methinks we got a taste of what’s in store for season five — and I’m kind of terrified. Alcide (Joe Manganiello) was called to a parking garage, where he discovered someone had dug a huge hole in the ground. Why, you ask? Judging by the broken silver chain Alcide picked up, I’m going to go ahead and assume our buddy Russell Edgington (Denis O’Hare) is back. And he’s pissed. So hide your humans and hide your fairies! We’re all in for a whole lot of pain.

And then there was that last scene — the one every True Blood fan will be talking about until season five premieres next summer. Sookie came home to find a shotgun-wielding Debbie (Brit Morgan), who ended up blowing a hole in Tara’s head when she knocked Sookie out of the way. And despite the she-wolf’s plea for Sookie to spare her life, our little fairy grabbed that shotgun and finally blasted her in the face — another moment fans of the book have been patiently waiting for.

After three long seasons of Bill-or-Eric drama, Sookie (Anna Paquin) finally asked a very important question on the Aug. 21 episode of HBO’s True Blood: “Why can’t I have both?” The end result was a steamy scene that gave both Bill (Stephen Moyer) and Eric (Alexander Skarsgard) fans reason to pause. Then rewind, and play again.

With Eric under Marnie’s (Fiona Shaw) mind-control, it was up to Bill to give Sookie the blood she needed to heal her near-fatal gunshot wound. And as you might expect, with both Bill and Eric’s blood coursing through her veins, things got hot. She had a part-porn-part-noir dream, which found her enjoying both of her vampire suitors on her living room couch.

Now here’s my question for both Bill and Eric fans: Was this threesome a fair compromise, or do you still think Sookie needs to make a real choice?

But Sookie’s not the only one who got her cake — and had sex with it, too — this week. Jessica (Deborah Ann Woll) and Jason (Ryan Kwanten) finally gave in to their passion and humped like rabid bunnies in the back of Jason’s pick-up truck. And what music did Jessica lose her virginity — again — to? Why, Taylor Swift, of course! Sometimes I think we all forget that Jessica is still a teenager, and always will be.

The whole ‘singing ghost’ storyline was also finally wrapped up this week. A still-possessed Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis) took over Hoyt’s (Jim Parrack) house, where he planned to start a new life with baby Mikey. Jesus (Kevin Alejandro) showed up for a little heart-to-heart with the ghost, ultimately expelling her from Lafayette’s body. To be honest, I found the “climax” of this storyline to be a little disappointing, but at least now we know someone will be able to pull Antonia out of Marnie.

And speaking of Marnie, she put a real damper on the vampire’s Tolerance Assembly by sending her goons, and Eric, to go on a killing spree. Sookie and Debbie (Brit Morgan) teamed up to save the day — I still don’t know how I feel about their unlikely friendship — but were too late.

Needless to say, there’s going to be hell to pay next week.

The June 10 episode of True Blood officially upgraded Eric Northman‘s (Alexander Skarsgard) status from “awesome” to “adorable.” With his memory completely wiped clean, he spent most of the hour being — for the very first time — completely innocent and awkward around Sookie (Anna Paquin) and I think we all loved it. The girls who watched the episode with me were literally panting.

We also finally got a glimpse of Eric’s little bachelor pad underneath Chez Stackhouse this week, and just as I expected, it’s totally pimped out. I’m talking steel walls, animal-print bed, the works. We also got to see a fun interaction between Sookie and now-dimwitted Eric, in which he literally asked her, “Do you want to be mine?” I swear, I never thought I’d see the day. (OMG Team Eric 4-ever, though.)

But because it’s not smart to have a fairy-hungry vampire living under your roof, Sookie went to Alcide (Joe Manganiello) for help. Little did she know, he’s back with that crazy bitch Debbie, so she peaced out quickly. I may hate Debbie, but having her back in the picture gives us another opportunity for an epic “Get out of my house, bitch” moment for Sookie. And I loved that version of Sookie. Meanwhile, Poor Jason (Ryan Kwanten) is still tied up in Hotshot — and well into his transformation. This week, crazy Crystal (Lindsay Pulsipher) remained totally bananas as she and her fellow inbred shifters literally started raping Jason in order to keep their bloodline going. Something tells me that even super-lover Jason isn’t going to want to have sex after this whole ordeal is over. Ever again.

After a heartwarming daddy-daughter chat with Bill (Stephen Moyer), Jessica (Deborah Ann Woll) agreed to tell Hoyt (Jim Parrack) the truth about her extramarital fanging. But when he didn’t take the news as well as she’d hoped, she decided to glamour him into forgetting the whole conversation. Her intentions were pure — she said he was “too good of a person” for her to allow him to get hurt — but I have a feeling she won’t be able to live with herself. Guilt can be a killer!

But glamouring Hoyt wasn’t Jessica’s only mistake this week; she also gave that creepy baby doll to Arlene (Carrie Preston) as a present for little Mikey. As if René’s spawn wasn’t creepy enough, he’s now sharing a crib with a nightmare-ish doll that looks like an undead Chucky on crack.

And speaking of people on crack, Marnie’s (Fiona Shaw) behavior was even more effed up than usual this week. One of the final scenes found her sacrificing her blood to an otherworldly force — let’s just assume it was Satan, because I definitely did — and something tells me she’s got a whole lot of dangerous new powers coming her way. She didn’t have very much screen time during the episode, but damn did she make good use of it.

The episode ended with the best Eric-Sookie scene of the night, one that proved once again how much this show is veering off the path of Charlaine Harris‘ books (which, I hope you noticed, Sookie was reading in her kitchen.) Anyway, Claudine (Lara Pulver) paid her Fairy Goddaughter one last visit, hoping to woo her back to Fairyland, but she was intercepted by Eric — and his appetite. Yes, friends, Claudine is no more.

And Eric is now full of crazy fairy powers. Witches beware!
