So sad. Vincent “Don Vito” Margera tragically died on Nov. 15, and fans who are devastated by the loss are helping keep his memory alive on Twitter. Read the messages of mourning here.
Vincent was just 59 years old when he passed away after being hospitalized back in October. After years of hard partying, the reality star’s liver and kidneys allegedly began failing, and he eventually succumbed to the illness. He died at 6:45 a.m. at the hospital, according to TMZ.
Vincent was nicknamed “Don Vito” by his nephew, Bam Margera, based on the character from The Godfather, because of his unintelligible speech. Don made appearances with Bam on Jackass, and went on to star in his nephew’s spin-off series Viva La Bam. However, his career in reality television ended after his 2006 arrest.
Don was found guilty of two counts of sexually assaulting a minor after he was accused of groping two young girls at an autograph signing in Colorado. He was put on “serious probation” for ten years, which he was to serve in his home state of Pennsylvania, and had to register as a sex offender in Colorado and Pennsylvania. As part of his punishment, he was unable to portray the “Don Vito” alter ego in any capacity.
Our thoughts are with Bam and the Margera family during this time. Bam also sadly lost his best friend, Ryan Dunn, also a co-star, to a tragic car crash in 2011.
