Justin Bieber lovers woke up to a very exciting surprise on April 1 — the pop star had released his first new album in nearly three years! #JustinYourAlbumLeaked immediately began trending on social media, but it didn’t take long for fans to figure out what was really going on. Find out how they reacted!
Is Justin Bieber, 21, ever going to release new music of his own?! He certainly teased fans by hitting the stage for the first time in months with Ariana Grande, 21, on March 28, but Beliebers got an even bigger surprise on April 1 when news hit Twitter that the singer’s brand new album had leaked online! Naturally, the Twitterverse went into a frenzy, which continued even after it became obvious that the “leak” was just an April Fool’s Day prank.
Justin Bieber Album Leak? Fans React To April Fool’s Prank
Gotcha, Justin! Fans pulled the ultimate prank on the Biebs by getting #JustinYourAlbumLeaked to trend on Twitter (complete with fake album cover and track list!), and once the news went viral, thousands got in on the fun. Check out the best fan reactions:
Unfortunately, it may actually be quite some time before Justin does release a new record. “I had to re-do my whole (new) album,” he told USA Today. “It was done but it didn’t matchup to where I am now and where my head’s at.”
Justin released his last album Believe in 2012, and has certainly changed a lot since then. After two years of bad-boy behavior, which included multiple arrests and lots of partying, the 21-year-old finally seems to have tamed it down at least a little bit, so it only makes sense that he’s in a new place to draw inspiration from.
“I want to tell my story, but I also want to give people hope,” he added. “I lost hope for a while, I was in a dark place, but it’s about getting out of that rut. It’s about knowing there’s sunshine on the other side.”
But, as HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY reported, Justin is definitely working on new tunes, and will release them when the time is right.
“He is not going to rush an album just to rush an album,” our source said. “He would like to have some really big hits, and then release a juggernaut of an album.”
We’re waiting, Justin! And until then, we’ll be reliving this Miami performance.
