Alanis Morissette (born June 1, 1974 in Ontario, Canada) is a Canadian-American alternative rock singer/songwriter, record producer, and actress. In 1995, she released her first international Album Jagged Little Pill, which included the hit song “You Oughta Know.” The song got a lot of attention for its scathing lyrics after being played on Los Angeles’ famous alt rock station KROQ-FM, and the video circulated on MTV. Her fourth single off the album, “Ironic” has become iconic, and is recognized worldwide. She has had several bit parts in films and television shows including Dogma, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Sex in the City and Weeds. She has written and produced eight studio albums and won countless awards including a Grammy for Best Music Video, and a Juno Award for Songwriter of the Year.

Personal Life:
Alanis dated Dave Coulier briefly in the 1990’s, and the actor claims she wrote her hit “You Oughta Know” about him. She dated Ryan Reynolds after meeting him at Drew Barrymore‘s birthday party in 2002, and got engaged to the actor in 2004. The engagement was mutually broken off in 2007, and she wrote her album Flavors of Entanglement about it. In 2010, Alanis married rapper Mario “Souleye” Treadway, and their son was born later the same year.
