Bio: Prince William (born William Arthur Philip Louis in London, England, on June 21, 1982) is the Duke of Cambridge. As the elder son of Prince Charles and Princess Diana, he is second in the line of succession to the British throne, after his father. As a child, he was greatly affected by his parents’ divorce in 1996 and his mother’s tragic death in 1997. After graduating from St. Andrew’s University in Scotland, Prince William completed training to become part of the Royal Air Force, which he continues to serve. Being born into the spotlight, Prince William has used his notoriety to bring attention to a number of charitable organizations, including Tusk Trust, a charity that works towards the preservation of African wildlife. It was on a trip to Africa that the Prince became engaged to his longtime girlfriend, Kate Middleton, with Princess Diana’s engagement ring in October 2010. The tabloid-favorite couple married at Westminster Abbey on April 29th, 2011.
