We’ve got MORE baseball news, but it’s not about the World Series. The minor league team formerly called the Binghamton Mets just CHANGED their team name to the Rumble Ponies — and fans don’t know what to do with themselves. See the crazy tweets!
The hype surrounding the Chicago Cubs‘ miraculous win over the Cleveland Indians still hasn’t died down, and yet, there’s MORE baseball news on the front page. By popular vote, New York’s little league baseball team just changed their name from the Binghamton Mets to the Binghamton Rumble Ponies. Yes, we’re serious. New Yorkers had the opportunity to cast their vote on which team name they prefer out of six choices, but the reaction to Rumble Ponies is still severely mixed.
No lie the rumble ponies logo is actually pretty sick

The Rumble Ponies.
That is a terrible nickname.

This is great. It's minor league baseball, it should be fun. 'Rumble Ponies' is new name of Mets' AA team https://t.co/PFsCkVrbrt

Rumble Ponies is a great name for a minor league team. Heck, it's a great name for a major league team!

No way the Birmingham Mets are the Birmingham Rumble Ponies now

The Binghamton Rumble Ponies is probably the best baseball team name you could have.

These were the six choices — Bullheads, Gobblers, Rocking Horses, Rumble Ponies, Stud Muffins, and Timber Jockeys. The fact that Stud Muffins didn’t win is beyond us! As one of the Twitter users commented, the Rumble Ponies’ logo IS actually pretty sweet, and not as innocent looking as you might imagine. Instead of a My Little Pony-looking creature, their logo uses a muscular horse holding a baseball bat with an angry look on its face. How ferocious can a little league team be anyway?
Moving onto the BIG LEAGUES, can we talk about that insane World Series game that went into extra innings on Nov. 2? It was seriously the most nail-biting game we’ve seen in a long time! The Cubs haven’t won the World Series since 1908, and some speculate that a curse was the reason for their back-to-back loses. That alleged curse was finally lifted in 2016, as the Cubs defeated the Indians 8-7 on Progressive Field in Cleveland, Ohio. Chicago fans literally lost their minds since their team started out the season as major underdogs. We simply love a good comeback story!
HollywoodLifers, what do YOU think of the Rumble Ponies mascot name? Love it or hate it?
