Aaliyah made a monumental impact on the R&B scene in the late 1990s, selling millions of albums and becoming the first artist in Billboard history to top the Billboard Hot 100 solely on airplay. She even broke into the acting world, appearing in films Romeo Must Die and Queen of the Damned before her untimely death. The deemed “Princess of R&B” and eight others were killed in a tragic plane crash in the Bahamas after filming the music video for her single “Rock The Boat.” Certainly gone too soon, but Aaliyah’s legacy will live on forever!
