Zendaya Coleman (born Zendaya Maree Stoermer Coleman on September 1, 1996 in Oakland, California) is an American actress, singer and dancer. While growing up in Orinda, California, Zendaya helped her mother out while she worked at the California Shakespeare Theater, occasionally training with the theater’s student conservatory program. She performed in multiple theatrical productions during high school, before enrolling in the Cal Shakes Conservatory program. She began a professional career in 2009, first as a model as well as a dancer for a Sears commercial featuring Selena Gomez. She auditioned for the role of Rocky Blue for the show, Shake It Up. Several of the songs performed on the show were released as singles, launching Zendaya’s musical career. In 2012, she appeared alongside Bella Thorne in the Disney Channel movie, Frenemies. She appeared on the 2013 season of Dancing With The Stars. At the time, at age 16, she was the youngest contestant to appear on the show until Willow Shields appeared on the 2015 season. In 2014, Zendaya was announced as the lead in the new Disney Channel Original Series, K.C. Undercover, which debuted in January 2015. In 2017, she joined Spider-Man: Homecoming as Michelle.

Personal Life:
While growing up, Zendaya spent three years dancing with a group called Future Shock Oakland. She is close friends with Will & Jada Pinkett Smith‘s son Jaden Smith.
