Warren Beatty (born Charles Robert Redford Jr. on August 18, 1936 in Santa Monica, California) is an American actor, director, producers and activist. Robert grew up in Van Nuys, California. Robert attended University of Colorado for a year and a half, before his drinking got out of control. He lost his scholarship and was kicked out of school. After traveling to Europe, he ended up studying painting at the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn. He started acting in 1950s, appearing in numerous television programs like Perry Mason, Alfred Hitchcock Presents and The Twilight Zone. He made his big screen debut in 1960, a minor part in the film, Tall Story, but his first significant role came in 1962’s War Hunt. 1965’s Inside Daisy Clover won him a Golden Globe award, and his role in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid made him a major star. Robert would go on to become a celebrated Hollywood legend., thanks to films like All The President’s Men, The Sting and A River Runs Through It. Robert is also a critically acclaimed director, winning the Academy Award for best Director for the film, Ordinary People, in 1980.

In 1958, Robert married Lola Van Wagenden. They had four children together — Scott Anthony, Shauna Jean, David James and Amy Hart. Robert divorced Lola in 1985. Robert and Sibylle Szaggars married in 2009, following a near two-decade relationship. Robert is an avid supporter of environmentalism, Native American rights, LGBT causes and efforts to reduce the use of fossil fuels.
