August Alsina (born August Anthony Alsina, Jr. on September 3, 1992 in New Orleans, Louisiana) is an American recording artists, rapper and R&B singer. August attended middle school in New Orleans, and decided to start singing at age 14. While his father and stepfather battled crack cocaine addiction, August moved to Houston, Texas, with his mother in 2005. He fought with his mother and was kicked out. In 2010, his brother was murdered and August decided to dedicate himself to music. After relocating to Atlanta in 2011, August released his first mixtape. In 2013, he released his single, “I Luv This Sh*t,” which reached No. 48 on the US Billboard Charts. After that, he released his second mixtape, The Product 2, in 2013. August released his EP, Downtown: Life Under The Gun, in 2013 and the video for “Hell On Earth” followed. His song, “Ghetto,” featuring Rich Homie Quan, was the most added song on urban radio the week it was released. In 2014, Alsina released his first album, Testimony, which debuted at No. 2.

Personal Life:
August collapsed during a Sept. 2014 concert at Irving Plaza in New York City. He experienced seizures and awake enough to thank his fans. However, he was entered into the ICU and experienced a 3-day-coma. He was declared fine and was released from the hospital.
