Portia de Rossi (born Amanda Lee Rogers in Geelong, Victoria, Australia on January 31, 1973) is an Australian-American actress. She was raised in Grovedale, Victoria, Australia by her mother after her father died when she was 9 years old. As a child, she began modeling for print and TV commercials. When she turned 15, she legally changed her name to Portia de Rossi, hoping to reinvent herself. She’s starred in many television shows and films including Scream 2, Arrested Development, Nip/Tuck, and Ally McBeal.

Personal Life:
In 1996, Portia married documentary filmmaker, Met Metcalfe, but divorced him three years later. In 2004, Portia, who had never admitted publicly that she was a lesbian, began dating Ellen DeGeneres after they met backstage at an awards show. In 2008, the couple was married at their Beverly Hills home during the brief period where same-sex marriage was legal in the state of California. In 2010, Portia released an autobiography, Unbearable Lightness, that revealed her struggles with anorexia and bulimia.
