Jimmy Garoppolo (born James Richard Garoppolo on November 2, 1991 in Arlington Heights, Illinois) is an American football quarterback for the New England Patriots. He was born and raised in Arlington Heights, Illinois and attended Rolling Meadows High School in Rolling Meadows, Illinois. The quarterback went on to play football for the Eastern Illinois Panthers from 2010 to 2013. In his senior season, Jimmy won the Walter Payton Award. In 2014, he was drafted in the second round of the NFL draft. Jimmy played six games and completed 19 of 27 passes for 182 yards and a touchdown in his rookie season. When starting quarterback Tom Brady was suspended during Deflategate for four games in the beginning of 2016 season, the Illinois native was expected to stand in for Tom during his suspension. Unfortunately, during his second game as starting quarterback Jimmy had a shoulder injury and tore his AC joint. After recovering, the player played more games in the season and is joining his team at Super Bowl LI.
