Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters (born June 28, 1995 in Western Cape, South Africa) is the current Miss South Africa and newly crowned Miss Universe 2018. She is is the first Miss Universe winner from South Africa since Miss Universe 1978 Margaret Gardiner.

Personal Life:
Demi-Leigh is a Business Management and Entrepreneur graduate. The part-time model spends most of her time giving back to the community. Inspired by her disabled sister who was born without a cerebellum, she has dedicated herself to motivating women all of the world. After she was crowned Miss South Africa, Demi-Leigh’s car was hijacked and she escaped kidnapping by elbowing her captors and fighting them off before running to safety. She launched the #MissSAUnbreakable campaign to help girls and women learn self-defense.
