There was one question on everyone’s mind during the MTV Movie Awards on April 14 — why didn’t Zac Efron pull down his pants? The hunky High School Musical star kept his jeans firmly tightened, while his co-presenters Danny McBride and Seth Rogen competed for the “Best Bottomless” Award, and they displayed some truly shocking underwear!

Zac, 25, Seth, 31, and Danny, 36, were at the awards to present “Best Shirtless Scene” to Taylor Lautner, and Danny and Seth pulled down their pants to compete for “Best Bottomless.”

Seth debuted an unsightly mound of hair between his legs, while Danny revealed a padlocked chastity belt fastened over his crotch, to which Seth had the key!

The audience howled with laughter as the two actors joked around minus underpants, while sadly Zac failed to drop his trousers.

When Taylor won his award, he then had to hug both underwear less actors!

Taylor Lautner Wins ‘Best Shirtless Scene’ For ‘Twilight’

Taylor, 21, won his award for taking off his shirt in Breaking Dawn: Part Two, and he totally deserves it! When he won, he took to the stage and he was hilarious as he pretended to be fat!

“Thank you, everyone. I’m just going to be real honest with you guys. I turned 21 recently. I’ve been drinking a little bit, eating a little bit, a little too much drinking, probably,” he said of his new physique, as he had a pillow up his shirt.

He then thanked all the other famous stars who like to take off their shirts.

“But in all seriousness, for us shirtless actors out there, this is like winning the Oscar. But this is as high as it gets. This is the shirtless Oscar. Thank you everyone, for all of us that take our shirts off — [Matthew] McConaughey, Tatum, Lena Dunham — this is it. Thank you to all. Thank you for voting. You’re the best. Thank you.”

On Mar. 13, after two days of voting, white smoke was seen rising from the chimney of the Vatican in Rome, meaning that a replacement for Pope Benedict XVI had been found. This being such a momentous occasion in world news, several celebs took to Twitter to speak their mind. Some, like Seth Rogen and Joan Rivers, took the opportunity to crack wise, while others, like Maria Shriver and Real Housewives of New York City‘s Ramona Singer, were a bit more serious about the revelation that Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio, Archbishop of Buenos Aires, would become Pope Francis I.

Joan, of course, took the chance to poke fun at the moment. “@JoanRivers: Waiting for the Pope to emerge on the balcony in a white gown. Doubt he’ll be singing “Don’t Cry for me Argentina.” A missed opportunity!”

Maria and Ramona were a bit more wistful with their tweets. “@mariashriver: Imagine the weight on the new pope’s shoulder. Let’s all say a prayer that he feels at peace with his mission.”

Melissa Joan Hart was inquisitive: “@MelissaJoanHart: New pope? White smoke? Who got the gig?”

Piers Morgan and Seth, true to form, found some humor. “@piersmorgan: I hope this new Pope has signed a non-retirement clause.”

Mia Farrow expressed excitement, while Craig Ferguson got in a dig at the current late night troubles at NBC. “@miafarrow: Huge moment for Catholics! ‘We Have a Pope’.”

Chris Harrison, host of The Bachelor, jokingly implied that he would be announced as the new Pope. “@chrisbharrison: “When I told @SeanLowe09 & @clmgiudici I’m ordained I never thought the Vatican would respond so fast #Whitesmoke”

Seth MacFarlane and comedians Jim Gaffigan and Aziz Ansari all posted some funny tweets, as well.

Let’s just say that Andy comes to realize that his mom is way more fun and far wiser than he thought and that HE has a lot to learn about love, and about selling the product of his life.

Barbara is so funny, warm, and believable, she really needs to consider acting a whole lot more, not less.

And the other reason you need to take your mom to The Guilt Trip is so you can give her a big hug when it’s over. I know, I wish my mom was here, so I could.

Seth Rogen hosted the 27th annual Independent Spirit Awards on Feb. 25 in Santa Monica, and he used his opening monologue as an opportunity to attack violent singer Chris Brown!

Seth, 29, first went after disgraced former Oscar producer Brett Ratner, whose homophobic remarks lost him the job for the 2012 ceremony. Then the harsh comments about Chris, 22, began.

“I honestly bet, though, that Brett Ratner really wishes he was organizing the Grammys, because they seem much more forgiving than the Oscars altogether,” he said. “Seriously, if you say a few hateful things, they don’t let you within 100 feet of the Oscars. You could literally beat the s–t out of a nominee and they ask you to perform twice at the Grammys.”

Zac Efron has kept his career squeaky-clean, from High School Musical to 17 Again. But Seth Rogen — his costar in an as-yet-untitled new college comedy — says Zac will shock fans with his outrageous new role!

Seth, 29, said Zac, 23, has been amazing to work with, MTV News reports.

“He was really looking to be sullied, which is why we thought it would be a good idea,” he said. “I’ve met him a few times over the years and the first thing you get from him is that he knows that a guy like me would probably hate him, and he works directly to counteract that feeling, which shows an amount of self awareness that is not prevalent among many young stars these days that I’ve met at award shows recently. And I think that’s why I thought it would be really funny, he seemed like he was a really cool guy, that he’d be fun to work with and seemed that he was capable of much more than the Disney stuff we’ve seen him in.”

Seth also said he was shocked at what Zac would agree to.

“He’s the president of a fraternity who really does despicable things, as the president of a fraternity would do,” he said. “We [Seth and his writing/producing partner Evan Goldberg] were just pitching him these ideas, and he was going along with it. We kept looking at each other, like ‘He’s actually going along with this stuff,’ and then he would come up with things that would be pushing it further and we thought, ‘Wow, people are really going to be shocked.’ And so it’s exciting to us.”

I’ll say it: 50/50 is one of the finest movies I’ve seen this year. I’ve never experienced a cancer diagnosis personally, but I’ve never seen an illness movie seem so realistic and natural. It’s rare that characters in tearjerker movies act in ways that real humans do, but that’s a huge reason this movie struck a chord. Furthermore, the cast — anchored by Joseph Gordon-Levitt as a young cancer patient, his best friend Seth Rogen, his therapist Anna Kendrick & his girlfriend Bryce Dallas Howard — balance humor and high-drama with nuanced performances. Check out five reasons you need to drop what you’re doing and see 50/50 RIGHT NOW (right after you finish catching up on the day’s news on HollywoodLife.com!)

1) It manages to find humor and realness in a dark disease, while being respectful of the patient’s plight.

Life gets real super-fast for this young group, but the dark sense of humor this film toes makes these characters seem honest and enhance the drama.

2) Joseph is the perfect straight man, engaging the viewer while whipping out some serious acting chops when necessary.

There’s never been any doubt that JGL is a rock-solid actor, but the nuance he exhibits during 50/50 might just be his best performance yet. He plays through every emotion, and when he finally does haven epic a breakdown late in the movie, it left everyone in the theatre floored.

3) Seth delivers some great comic relief.

It seems gimmicky to put Seth — who essentially plays the variation on his own personality he’s been doing for years — in this movie, but he is the perfect yin to JGL’s yang. His humor cuts deeper and darker than ever before, with a undercurrent of love which is disarming and fragile. Kudos.

4) The characters don’t follow movie cliches — they’re fleshed-out and real!

Ok, Anna’s naive therapist role may be a bit of a stretch, but for the most the choices written in this movie are unpredictable. Considering Hollywood’s love of paint-by-number screenplays, there are many dynamic choices — most notably JGL’s relationship with the two female leads.

5) It’s a fast-paced movie that just relies on conversation — what a relief!

After a summer of high-octane blockbusters and noise, it’s a relief to see great actors chew on some witty dialogue for two hours.

Rob and Kristen are without question the biggest stars in young Hollywood right now, but Oscar nominee Anna has lined up more work than the two of them combined!

Anna Kendrick may be the least seen and photographed Twilight actor, and for good reason — she’s always working! The 25-year-old actress has three films slated for release in 2012, will star in this summer’s 50/50 alongside Seth Rogen and Joseph Gordon-Levitt and is close to landing the role of Jake Gyllenhaal‘s wife in End of Watch, set to shoot this summer. Oh, and did we mention she’s an Oscar nominee?

Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson have also kept busy, though with less well received films. Of the three, most would be surprised to know it is Anna who has worked with George Clooney, Seth, Angelica Huston, Michael Cera, Vera Farmiga and Jason Bateman, to name just a few.

Also helping Anna greatly is the fact that, unlike Rob and Kristen, she is a minor character in the Twilight series. She gets to stop by, steal a few scenes with her always hilarious delivery and be on her way. She will never have the vampire stigma to shake.

Rob and Kristen are of course working hard and booking projects, but these days it seems harder for them to blend in to films with smaller roles, instead needing to take on major parts.

It therefore seems likely that while Rob and Kristen will both enjoy a long career, Anna is set to be the true breakout Twilight star. Do you agree HollywoodLifers?
