Teyana Taylor (born December 10, 1990 in Harlem, New York) is an American recording artist, dancer and actress. She first came into the spotlight when she was featured on MTV’s My Super Sweet Sixteen. In 2007, she signed to Pharrell Williams‘ Star Trak Entertainment imprint, through Interscope Records. In late 2007, she was in Jay-Z’s music video for ‘Blue Magic.’ Teyana released her first single ‘Google Me’ in February 2008. In 2010, before Kanye West released My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, he called in Teyana to look at some fashion pieces. The two became close friends and her vocals were featured on a few tracks, notably “Dark Fantasy” and “Hell of a Life.” In 2012, Teyana signed a joint-venture deal with Kanye’s GOOD Music label and The Island Def Jam Music Group. She released her debut studio album VI on November 4, 2014, through Def Jam and GOOD Music. The album was a success and debuted at number 10 on the Billboard 200. Teyana released her EP titled The Cassette Tape 1994 in August 2015, which paid tribute to the iconic 90s sound. On June 17, 2016, Teyana released her single ‘Freak On,’ featuring Chris Brown. At the 2016 VMAs, Teyana was the feature of Kanye’s “FADE” music video, in which she showed off her dance talents.
