Nancy led a remarkable life, and paved the way for first ladies to shine in the White House. Her marriage to President Reagan was something to be admired; he treated her as his equal, and trusted her opinion when it came to picking some of his staff. She did damage control when the Iran-contra scandal threatened to shake his presidency to the ground.
She was a fierce supporter of her husband, and a politician in her own right! Even after President Reagan’s death in 2004, she continued protecting and supporting him; she worked tirelessly toward promoting and funding Alzheimer’s Disease research, tackling the illness that killed him. She will be missed. May she rest in peace.
