Megan Rapinoe (born Megan Anna Rapinoe on July 5, 1985 in Redding, California) is a professional soccer midfielder. She is a member of the U.S. women’s national soccer team, and won an Olympic gold medal in the 2012 London Olympics. In the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup, Rapinoe scored two goals in the winning game against Australia. She currently plays in the National Women’s Soccer League for Seattle Reign FC.

In 2012, Rapinoe came out as a lesbian in an interview that was published in Out magazine. In the interview, Rapinoe said she had been dating Australian football player Sarah Walsh since 2009. They broke up in 2013, and Rapinoe began dating recording artist Sera Cahoone shortly after. As a philanthropist, Rapinoe supports many LGBT organizations, including Athlete Ally and the Gay, Lesbian & Straight Education Network (GLSEN). She has a twin sister named Rachel.
