Bio: Dolly Parton (born Dolly Rebecca Parton in Sevierville, Tennessee on January 19, 1946) is an American country music legend. She has composed over 3,000 songs and recorded over 40 studio albums over her extensive career, but she is best known for her hit singles “9 To 5,” “Jolene,” and her duet with Kenny Rogers, “Islands In The Stream.” She composed “I Will Always Love You,” which was popularized by Whitney Houston. She created her own theme park named Dollywood, located in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee. She wrote her hit song “9 To 5” to be in the movie of the same name, and she starred in the film. Her other film credits include Steel Magnolias, Miss Congeniality 2: Armed & Fabulous, Gnomeo & Juliet, and Joyful Noise. She appeared on television’s Hannah Montana as her real-life goddaughter Miley Cyrus‘ Aunt Dolly! Dolly has earned herself a spot in the Nashville Songwriters Hall Of Fame, Country Music Hall Of Fame, and Gospel Music Hall of Fame — and even snagged the 2007 Grammy Hall of Fame Award.
