Anderson East (born Michael Cameron Anderson on July 17, 1988 in Athens, Alabama) is an American R&B and Americana singer. Anderson grew up in Athens, attending Athens High School. His grandfather was a Baptist preacher, and his father sang in the church choir. Anderson’s mother played the piano in church, leading Anderson to follow a career in music. Anderson wrote his first song, “Brains,” for a 7th grade talent show and he taught himself piano while in high school. He attended college in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, studying music engineering. But a life on the stage was calling and Anderson moved to Nashville two years after he began college. He self-released an album in 2009 under the name Mike Anderson. A year later, he changed his name to Anderson East, releasing the EP, Fire Demons. In 2012, he self-released his debut album as Anderson East, Flowers of the Broken Hearted. His professional debut release, Delilah, came out on Elektra in 2015. His song, “Satisfy Me,” was released in March 2015 and received major radio airplay.

Personal Life:
Anderson is an avid hunter. He credits Ben Folds as the inspiration to learn piano, and cites everything from Snoop Dogg to Led Zeppelin as an early music influence. In Dec. 2015, Anderson started dating Miranda Lambert, following her divorce from country music superstar, Blake Shelton.
