Fans are freaking out that Conor McGregor’s alleged ‘retirement’ is because he was pulled from UFC 200 for refusing to promote his upcoming fight. UFC Chief Dana White wasn’t playing around when it came to laying down the punishment, which Conor apparently refused to take!
Now that we know a big reason behind Conor McGregor‘s shocking retirement announcement was that he was yanked from his upcoming fight for bailing on doing press, fans are losing their minds over the news! Many are hoping that the 27-year-old Irishman doesn’t make his retirement official, but there’s no question his battle against Nate Diaz, 31 in UFC 200 is definitely not happening. Keep reading for the shocking reactions people are having about the sudden developments.
UFC President Dana White, 46, made the stunning announcement late in the afternoon of Apr. 19 that Conor had officially been pulled from UFC 200’s main event, his rematch against Nate on July 9. He cited that Conor had informed UFC officials that he would not participate in any promotional activities, including a commercial shoot and press conferences, and that caused the UFC head honchos to yank him from the event altogether.
That helped explain why earlier in the day Conor put out a shocking retirement tweet that some thought was a joke. He said, “I have decided to retire young. Thanks for the cheese. Catch ya’s later,” and the world of UFC fans went nuts wondering if he was serious and why he wasn’t going to go through with his much-anticipated fight against Nate. Some even thought he was trolling his fans!
Now that its been revealed that he was in trouble with UFC honchos, fans are going berserk and seem to be split evenly, with some siding with Dana and saying Colin should have stepped up and done his job, while others are backing the scrappy fighter’s resolve to leave the sport.

Here's what I think happened;
Conor didn't show for press
UFC tried to show him who's boss. Pulled the fight on 200.
Conor tweets retired

#ConorMcGregor thought he's too big for the UFC, if your boss tells you to do something then do it cos that's what you get paid for.

Dana White making it clear that no one is bigger than the brand. Fighter union isn't coming any time soon either. https://t.co/L5gK37DEgJ

We’re still completely in shock that Conor would walk away from his UFC career, especially since he’d be retiring on a loss following his battle with Nate at UFC 196 on Mar. 5. He would have been making HUGE bank for his rematch at UFC 200 and his fans were so excited for it. To simply give an “I’m outta here” tweet about ending his career seems uncharacteristic for the brash, trash talking fighter.
HollywoodLifers, do you think Conor is really retiring from the sport? Do you think his getting pulled from UFC 200 is the reason he’s walking away?
