The Foo Fighters may be one of the biggest bands in the world, but they are calling it a day.

Frontman Dave Grohl, 43, shocked fans at the band’s September 29 Global Citizen Festival show in New York City’s Central Park.

“Without making a big deal out of it, we don’t have any shows after this,” Dave revealed. “This is it, man. We don’t have any ones after this. This is the show where we come out and we play as many songs as we can in a short period of time, because honestly, I don’t know when we’re going to do it again.”

Dave said a similar thing when he was on stage at the Reading Festival on August 26.

“Well, well, well. The f**king Reading festival. You guys realize we’ve got a lot of songs to play. It’s the last show of the tour and it’s the last show for a long time.”

Even if it’s not a permanent split, it sure sounds like an indefinite hiatus for the guys. Are YOU shocked that the Foo Fighters are breaking up, HollywoodLifers?

“Well, well, well. The f**king Reading festival. You guys realize we’ve got a lot of songs to play. It’s the last show of the tour and it’s the last show for a long time,” he said as he took the stage.

While the rock band has a few more shows scheduled in the U.S. for the month of September, many are wondering if they’re taking a break — or even worse — breaking up for good!

Dave Grohl has had quite the music career, starting off as the drummer in the well-known band Nirvana alongside Kurt Cobain and then fronting his own group, The Foo Fighters, who have produced billboard hits like “My Hero” and “Everlong.” But aside from being an awesome musician, Dave is quite the daddy! He is married to Jordyn Blum and they have two daughters, Violet Maye, 4, and Harper Willow, 1.

“I used to tour nine months out of the year. Now I don’t like being away from my kids for more than 12 days,” he told TIME magazine last year. “It’s changed everything that I do. When you have kids, you see life through different eyes. You feel love more deeply and are maybe a little more compassionate. It’s inevitable that that would make its way into your songwriting.” Aww! Dave Grohl might be one of the biggest rock stars on the planet, but first and foremost, he’s a doting dad. The rocker says he’s willing to dress up and make himself appear clean-cut so that his daughter can get into the right preschool! “Right after this interview we’re visiting a local preschool we want our daughter to go to,” he told British newspaper The Sun. “So I’ve got to tidy up to assure them that I’m not like Alice Cooper or something like that. I have a short hair wig I put on — I call it my business wig — and a tie. The whole look is great.”

The 41-year-old and his wife, Jordyn, 33, have two daughters, Violet Maye is 4 and Harper Willow is 1, and as much as he enjoys being a rock star, it’s his role as a dad that makes him the happiest. “I love my kids. They’re hilarious. I can’t wait to get them up out of bed and get them going to school for the day.”

With his band the Foo Fighters recording their seventh album in his garage, it makes things a lot easier when it comes to child-rearing. “But the good thing about making an album in the house is come 6:30 in the evening the kids are having dinner and I get to be there and give them baths and read them stories before they go to bed. Once they go to bed I can go back to the garage and keep on trucking.”

The band’s new album is expected to be released around Christmas, and Dave and the boys are planning a big tour next year. We can hardly wait!
