Bio:
John McCain (born August 29, 1936) is a United States Senator representing Arizona. He was born at Coco Solo Naval Air Station in the Panama Canal Zone. He followed in his father and grandfather’s steps by attending the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD. He became a naval aviator and fought in the Viet Nam War. His plane was shot down in 1967 and he was taken prisoner, spending five years in a P.O.W. camp. In 1982 he ran for and won a seat in the U.S. Congress representing the 1st District of Arizona. He was elected to the U.S. Senate in 1986, a seat he has held ever since. In 2008 he was the Republican presidential nominee but lost to Democratic Sen. Barack Obama. He was re-elected to his sixth term in the Senate in 2016. In July 2017 he underwent a procedure to have a blood clot removed from his brain and doctors discovered he had an aggressive and cancerous brain tumor. It has been removed and he is considering treatment options, including radiation and chemotherapy.

Personal Life:
John is a third generation Naval officer. In July 1965, he married first wife Carol Shepp. He adopted her two sons and together they had a daughter Sidney. In 1979 he fell for Arizona teacher Cindy Lou Hensley, whose father was a wealthy beer distributor. He divorced Carol and married Cindy in 1980. They have four children including his political pundit daughter Meghan.
