Bio:
YG (born Keenon Daequan Ray Jackson on March 9, 1990 in Compton, California) is an American rapper. Growing up, YG would make music for his friends to play at house parties in Compton. His music would gather a following and YG was booking clubs for 300-400 people while he was still in high school. YG also found success online, developing a dedicated fanbase online through MySpace and YouTube. Thanks to the success of a couple mixtapes, YG signed with Def Jam in 2009, releasing his first single, “Toot it and Boot It.” It hit #67 on the Billboard Hot 100. In 2012, YG announced Young Jeezy would produce his debut album and it would be called My Krazy Life. The album contained songs that featured Rich Homie Quan and Drake. The lead single, “My Hitta” peaked at #19 on the Billboard Hot 100 and was certified platinum. The album was released in 2014. In 2008, YG came up with the idea for Pu$haz Ink as a promotional tool for YG and DJ Mustard’s collaborations, before being turned into a music label

Personal Life:
Prior to signing to Def Jam in 2009, YG was in jail on a six month sentence for burglary. YG is a member of the Compton-based Westside Tree Top Piro gang, a subset of The Bloods. YG association with this gang has gotten him into trouble. In 2012, shots were fired during the filming of YG’s music video, “I’m a Thug.” In June 2015, YG was shot three times while in a recording studio in Studio City, California. The injuries were not life threatening.
