Joran van der Sloot (born Joran Andreas Petrus van der Sloot in Arnhem, Netherlands on August 6, 1987) is a Dutch convicted murdered, who killed Stephany Flores Ramirez in Peru in 2010. He is also the main suspect in the 2005 disappearance of Natalee Holloway in Aruba. He was arrested numerous times in the Holloway investigation, but was released for lack of evidence. He was indicted in the U.S. for wire fraud and extortion in relation to Holloway’s case. On June 7, 2010, after he fled to Chile, van der Sloot confessed to bludgeoning Flores; he later attempted to retract his confession. Then, on January 13, 2012, he was sentenced to 28 years in prison for the murder of Flores.
Best Known For:
Joran van der Sloot is best known for being involved in the disappearance case of Natalee Holloway. It’s been reported that van der Sloot was the last person to have seen Holloway before she disappeared.
Personal Life:
Joran van der Sloot is one of three male siblings. His mother Anita was an art teacher and his father, Paul was a lawyer. He married a Peruvian woman in prison on July 4, 2014. They met while she was selling goods inside the prison, and she was seven months pregnant with his child at the time. On September 28, 2014, van der Sloot’s wife gave birth to an a baby girl in Peru, Dushy van der Sloot.
