Sir Patrick Stewart (born Patrick Hewes Stewart on July 14, 1940 in Mirfield, West Riding of Yorkshire, England) is a British actor of stage, television and film. After growing up poor in the town of Jarrow, Patrick attended Mirfield Secondary Modern School, where he studied drama. At age 15, he left school to pursue acting. He became a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company in 1966 and remained with them until 1982. He appeared on the stage with actors like Ben Kingley and Ian Richardson. Patrickâs early film career includes roles in films like Excalibur, Dune and Lifeforce. Though he preferred classical theatre to other genres, he reluctantly signed on to the science fiction revival of Star Trek. Appearing as Captain Jean-Luc Picard in Star Trek: The Next Generation in 1987, Patrick became a worldwide celebrity. He would play the role throughout the seriesâ seven-year run and in four films. He would become another science fiction icon by playing Professor Charles Xavier in X-Men, X-Men 2 and X-Men: The Last Stand. Patrick continues to act on stage, most notably appearing alongside his close friend, Ian McKellen, in a 2009 revival of Waiting for Godot. In 2015, Patrick returned to television, starring as Walter Blunt in the Starz series, Blunt Talk.

Personal Life:
Patrick divorced his first wife, Sheila Falconer, in 1990 after 24 years of marriage. They have two children together: son Daniel Stewart (who is also an actor) and daughter Sophia. In 2000, he married Wendy Neuss, a television producer. They divorced three years later. He was romantically involved with actress Lisa Dillon until 2007. In 2008, he began dating singer Sunny Ozell. After moving to Park Slope to be with her, the two were wed in Sept. 2013. Sir Patrick Stewart was knighted in 2010.
