Bio:
Gus Kenworthy (born on October 1, 1991 in Chelmsford, Great Britain) is an American freestyle skier. Gus grew up in Telluride, Colorado. He graduated from Telluride High School in 2010. He could have finished in 2009, but he took a year off to ski. He won his first Association of Freeskiing Professionals championship in 2011, and won again in both 2012 and 2013. During the 2013 winter X-Games in Tignes, France, he won his first medal, a bronze. In 2014, he competed with the American skiing team at the Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. Gus took home silver in slopestyle, a type of skiing done on an obstacle course similar to a skate park. Though Gus didn’t medal in any of the 2015 X-Games events, he ended the 2014-15 season on a high note. During a February event in Park City, Gus debut the double cork 1260 trick and performed four different double cork tricks in a single run. This performance is considered the greatest in ski half-pipe history.

Personal Life:
Gus’s father is from America, while his mother is British. He has two older brothers, Hugh and Nick. While in Russia, Gus saved five stray dogs living outside the Olympic media center. In Oct. 2015, Gus revealed that he was gay.
