Bio:
Thomas Ravenel, born on August 11, 1962, is a Republican South Carolina politician and the star of Bravo’s Southern Charm. Thomas graduated from The Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina, where he received a B.S. in 1985. Later, he received an MBA from the University of South Carolina in 1991. Thomas ran for U.S. Senate in 2004, coming in third in the Republican primary election. In 2006, Thomas ran for South Carolina Treasurer, defeating Democrat Grady Patterson who had previously held the seat for 9 terms. During the 2012 Republican primaries, Thomas endorsed Ron Paul.
Best Known For:
Thomas is best known for serving as the State Treasurer for South Carolina from 2006 to 2007, when he was indicted on federal cocaine distribution charges in June 2007. That September, he pled guilty to “conspiring to buy and distribute less than 100 grams of cocaine.” More recently, he is popularly known for starring in the Bravo American reality TV show Southern Charm.
Personal Life:
Thomas has a daughter, Kensington Calhoun Ravenel, with fellow Southern Charm star Kathryn Dennis, born on March 24, 2014.
