R. Kelly (born Robert Sylvester Kelly in Chicago, Illinois on January 8, 1967) is an American R&B singer, songwriter and producer.
Best Known For:
R. Kelly is best known as being the “King of R&B,” and was the most successful and well-known male R&B artist in the ’90s. He is best known for his hit song, “I Believe I Can Fly,” and for being sued in 1997 for being accused of having sexual relations with a female minor. In 2002, a video was found of R. Kelly having sex with and urinating on another underage girl, and was indicted for 21 counts, including child pornography. In 2008, he was declared not guilty on all counts. He collaborated with Justin Bieber on his song, “PYD” in 2013, and Lady Gaga on her song, “Do What You Want” in 2013.
Personal Life:
R. Kelly was raised on the South Side of Chicago and has three other siblings.
