Bio:
Raised in suburban New Jersey, Lea Michele (born Lea Michele Safarti on August 29, 1987) always dreamt of being a start of the stage — much like the Glee character she would eventually play. As a child, she appeared in several Broadway productions, including Les Miserables and Ragtime. She got her big break in 2006 when she snagged the leading role in Duncan Sheik’s coming-of-age Broadway musical Spring Awakening, but it wasn’t until she was cast as Rachel Berry on FOX’s Glee in 2009 that she became a household name.

Playing the role of Rachel Berry on the FOX musical comedy Glee.

Personal Life:
After dating Theo Stockman, Lea started a relationship with her Glee co-star Cory Monteith. Their love was tragically cut short when Cory died of a drug overdose on July 13, 2013.

The April 24 episode of Glee honored Whitney Houston just two months after the singing legend’s tragic death. Am I the only one who thinks it’s a little soon? In my humble opinion, the episode felt a little forced, but was not without its bright moments.

'Glee' Recap: Tragedy Strikes During Finn & Rachel's Wedding

Lives hung in the balance on the ‘Glee’ winter finale, as the New Directions prepared to perform at Regionals.
The catalyst for most of what happened on the Feb. 21 episode of Glee was David Karofsky’s (Max Adler) suicide attempt. After being spotted with Kurt (Chris Colfer) at Breadstix, Karofsky was tormented by his classmates. Unable to deal with the humiliation of being outed, he tried to hang himself in his closet. Regardless of what he put Kurt through last season, it was hard watching a teary-eyed Karofsky lay out his suit in preparation for the act. Thankfully, his father caught him in the nick of time.
