We feel so sorry for British singer Lily Allen, who was six months pregnant when she lost her baby boy over the weekend, so we turned to the experts to ask what could have caused her to lose the baby. “When there is a fetal loss anytime after 20 weeks, it is called an intrauterine fetal demise or IUFD,” Beverly Hills-based obstetrician and gynecologist Dr. Michele Hakakha, who does not treat the singer, tells HollyBaby.com. It happens in 1 out of 200 pregnancies, and while doctors can’t always determine the reason why it happens, Lily was reportedly suffering from a viral infection in the days leading up to her loss.
