The producers of Family Guy are taking a big risk by killing off Brian, I think. He was one of the solid, main characters.

Brian’s Death — Not Everyone Is Upset
While the majority of the fans seem to be really hurt by the fact that the show would kill off the popular, family dog, not everyone is so upset.
HollywoodLife.com‘s Entertainment Director, Andy Swift admitted he was upset by the loss, but that it was a good call for the show to make: “Stewie’s journey of acceptance was also particularly touching. The family pet should be every kid’s first experience with death, and while it was heartbreaking to see Stewie lose his best friend, it was also nice to see him move on. I’m not totally sold on Vinny yet, but I think he’ll grow on all of us.”
Here’s a few more positive reactions:
Family Guy’s producers have been warning that they were going to eliminate a major character for a while. Shouldn’t have been a surprise.
