Sam Claflin (born Samuel George Claflin on June 27, 1986 in Ipswich, Suffolk, England) is a British film and television actor. Sam grew up in Norwich, Norfolk, playing soccer until an injury ended his profession aspirations. He then pursued acting after a suggestion from both his parents and a teacher. He took up Performing Arts at the Norwich City College, before attending the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. He made his acting debut in 2010, appearing on the television series, The Pillars of the Earth. He continued to appear in movies and film. In 2010, he was cast as Phillip Swift in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. He also appeared as Jack in the BBC TV series, White Heat, and as William in Snow White and the Huntsman. In 2012, Sam was cast as Finnick Odair in the Hunger Games film series, starting with The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. He reprised the role for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 and Part 2. He will also reprise the role of William in The Huntsman, the sequel to Snow White and the Huntsman, scheduled to be released in 2016.

Sam began dating actress Laura Haddock in 2011. The two were married in July 2013, in a private ceremony. Together, they live in Chiswick, London. At the Mockingjay – Part 2 premiere in London, it was revealed that they are expecting their first child together.
