Kermit The Frog (created as Kermit in 1955) is the most prominent character with The Muppets. Kermit was one of Jim Henson’s earliest creations, appearing on WRC-TV’s Sam and Friends. He is the only Muppet to be featured prominently on both The Muppet Show and Sesame Street, as he was one of the original Muppet characters on the first season of the children’s show. Kermit was regularly featured in skits throughout the show until 2001. With The Muppets, Kermit is the central character, the showrunner on The Muppets Show, the producer on Muppets Tonight and the lead character in most of The Muppets movies. Kermit performed the hit single, “Rainbow Connection” for the 1979 The Muppet Movie, the first feature-length film for the Muppets. The song reached No. 25 on the Billboard Hot 100. Kermit has appeared on everything from The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson to CNN’s Larry King Live to WWE Monday Night Raw. In addition to the Muppets movies, he has appeared in The Frog Prince in 1971, The Jim Henson Hour in 1989 and Cartoon All-Stars to the Rescue in 1990.

Personal Life:
Kermit was given a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2002. In 1974, Kermit began his long-standing relationship with Miss Piggy. Though the two were reportedly married on two occasions, but both times turned out to be false. After nearly forty years of a tumultuous relationship, Kermit and Piggy announced their break-up in Aug. 2015.
