Jacob Whitesides (born Jacob Whitesides in Knoxville, Tennessee, on November 11, 1997) is an American singer-songwriter. After teaching himself to play the guitar at 13 and gaining popularity with YouTube covers, Jacob had a brief stint on The X Factor. Despite only making it to the second round of the show, Jacob’s appearance earned him more recognition on his online presence and he began releasing EPs in 2014. He started his own record label, Double U Records, in May 2015, under which he released two more EPs and eventually dropped his debut album Why? on Sept. 9, 2016. Why? debuted at No. 1 on the iTunes singer-songwriter chart, and he even got to perform on the Today show in honor of the CD’s release. He maintains a close relationship with his fans.
