Flavor Flav (born William Jonathan Drayton Jr. on March 16, 1959 in Roosevelt, New York) is am American rapper and television popularity. Flav was raised in the working class town of Freeport, Long Island. A musical prodigy, Flav began playing the piano at age 5 and is self-taught on the drums and guitar. But Flav was a troubled youth, and by the time he dropped out of school in the 11th grade, he had already been arrested for robbery and burglary. Flav’s life changed when he met Chuck D, who was attending Long Island’s Adelphi University. After Chuck graduated, he and Flav started the rap group that would make them icons in the hip hop world — Public Enemy. Flav was considered a “hype man,” known for supporting the primary rapper. Flav became known for his outrageous wardrobe style as well as his trademark sayings. The group debuted in 1984 and hit their critical and commercial success with 1988’s It Takes A Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back. Despite hiatuses and inner conflicts, the group still continues to perform. Flavor later became a reality television personality in 2004 when he starred in a season of the VH1 show The Surreal Life. During his season, he developed a relationship with Red Sonja star Brigitte Nielsen, leading to the spin-off, Strange Love. From 2006 to 2008, Flavor was the star of the reality television dating game, Flavor of Love. Flavor has constantly battled with drug addiction. In May 2015, he was arrested for marijuana possession.

Personal Life:
In 1991, Flav was arrested for assaulting his then girlfriend, Karen Ross. Two years later, he was charged with attempted murder. He would later enter the Betty Ford Center for addiction to crack cocaine. Flav has seven children. His first three are with Karen Ross, the second three with Angie Parker and his youngest is with Elizabeth Trujillo.
