Dean Ambrose (born Jonathan Good on December 7, 1985 in Cincinnati, Ohio) is a professional wrestler and actor. After growing up in public housing in Cincinnati’s East End, Dean found professional wrestling as a way to escape his rough upbringing. Dean got into the wrestling business as a teenager, selling popcorn and setting up the ring at the Heartland Wrestling Association events. He made his professional debut as Jon Moxley in 2004. Two years after his debut, he started challenging for the HWA Heavyweight Championship, winning it in May 2006. From there, the then-Jon started to gain a following in independent wrestling promotions like Insanity Pro Wrestling, Combat Zone Wrestling and Dragon Gate USA. In 2011, Jon signed with the WWE under a development deal. He debuted with the company’s developmental territory, Florida Championship Wrestling, in 2011. Now called Dean Ambrose, he challenged Seth Rollins for a 15-minute Iron Man match for the FCW Championship. Seth and Dean would team up with Roman Reigns when the three made their WWE debut as The Shield in 2012. While part of the group, Dean secured his first WWE title, winning the United States Championship. After Seth betrayed The Shield, Dean and his former teammates feuded back and forth. By 2016, had won the Intercontinental Championship as well as five Slammy awards and he had starred in the WWE film, Lockdown.
