Ted Nugent (born Theodore Anthony “Ted” Nugent December 13, 1948 in Redford, MI) is a former rock star, avid hunter and a political activist. He started his rock career in 1965 while still in high school with his band The Amboy Dukes. After a decade of success with the group, he went solo in 1975 and became a staple touring with his hits, performing his 6,000th live show in 2008. In the early 2000’s, he ventured into TV with his own outdoor hunting show, following it up in 2003 with hosting VH1’s reality series Surviving Nugent, where D-list celebs had to rough it in the wild. Ted then turned to being a pro-gun activist, appearing on such shows as Larry King Live and Politically Incorrect. He became a prominent Tea Party activist when the party was formed in 2008, campaigning for its candidates and becoming outspoken on right-wing causes, but primarily focused on gun ownership rights. On Feb. 8, 2016 he launched an anti-Semitic, pro-gun Facebook statement aimed Jewish politicians that support gun control laws.

Ted has been married twice and has fathered several children. He was married to his first wife, Sandra Jezowski, from 1970 to 1979 and they had son Theodore Tobias “Toby” Nugent and daughter Sasha Nugent. He married Shemane Deziel, on January 21, 1989. and went on to have one child, son Rocco Winchester Nugent. Ted does not drink alcoholic beverages or smoke and has been a national spokesman for the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) program. Ted currently serves on the board of the National Rifle Association (NRA).
