Bio:
Sig Hansen (born Sigurd Johnny Hansen April 28, 1966 in Seattle, WA) is a fishing boat captain and one of the stars of The Discovery Channel’s The Deadliest Catch. He comes from a long lineage of Norwegian fishermen and began fishing at age 14 as a deckhand on his father’s boat. After graduating form Seattle’s Shorewood High School, he became a professional fisherman spending up to 10 months per year at sea off Alaska. At 24, Sig became the Captain of the ship the Northwestern after serving for two years as its relief position. He primarily fishes for King Crab and Opilio Crab during their respective seasons, and his boat has been featured in every series of the crab season competition show The Deadliest Catch since the show began in 2005. His boat has one of the safest records of any ship in the fleet and has never had a death aboard it in his over two decades at the helm. His younger brothers Edgar and Norman, are deck boss and deckhand on the ship, respectively.

Personal Life:
Sig and his wife, June, live with their two daughters, Nina and Mandy, in Seattle when he is not off at sea running the Northwestern and taping The Deadliest Catch. He and his brothers all speak fluent Norwegian. Sig provided the voice of a boat named Crabby (modeled after the Northwestern herself) in the 2011 Disney Pixar film Cars 2. He competed on 14th season of Donald Trump‘s reality show Celebrity Apprentice. Sig was airlifted to Anchorage, Alaska on March 1, 2016 after suffering chest pains while shooting the show, possibly the result of a mild heart attack.
