Pete Burns (August 5, 1959 – October 23, 2016) was an English singer-songwriter and television personality. He founded the band Dead Or Alive in 1980, in which he was a singer and songwriter. The band hit mainstream success in 1985 with their single, “You Spin Me Round.” He later appeared on Celebrity Big Brother in 2006, and finished in fifth place.

Pete Burns was best known for finding and being a part of Dead Or Alive.

Personal Life:
Pete Burns married Lynne Corlett in Liverpool in 1980, but they separated in 2006. He married Michael Simpson shortly afterwards. When discussing his sexuality in his 2006 autobiography, Freak Unique: My Autobiography, Pete said, “[People] always want to know – am I gay, bi, trans or what? I say, forget all that. There’s got to be a completely different terminology and I’m not aware if it’s been invented yet. I’m just Pete.” Pete died following sudden cardiac arrest on Oct. 23, 2016 at the age of 57.
