Bio:
Nathan FillionĀ (born Nathan Craig Fillion on March 27, 1971 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada) is a Canadian actor and voice actor. Nathan grew up in Alberta, attending the Holy Trinity Catholic High School, Concordia University College of Alberta and the University of Alberta. In 1994, he was just months short of graduating when he left for a role on the ABC soap opera, One Life To Live. Nathanās performance as Joey Buchanan earned him a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Younger Actor in a Drama Series in 1996. He left the show in 1997. He moved to Los Angeles to pursue roles, scoring a recurring role as Caleb on Joss Whedonās series, Buffy the Vampire Slayer. This connection led him to his most noted role. In 2002, Joss cast Nathan as Captain Malcolm Reynolds in the television series, Firefly. Although only on for a single season, the show gained a cult following of dedicated fans, leading to the show getting a move, Serenity, in 2005. Nathan starred in the romantic comedy Waitress, which was praised by the critics. Nathan portrayed Dr. Adam Mayfair on Desperate Housewives, but in 2009, his landed the role of Richard Castle, the main character of the ABC television series, Castle. In addition to his television roles, Nathan has acted in movies Super, Saving Private Ryan and Dracula 2000.

Nathan has an older brother, Jeff. In 2007, Nathan co-foudned the non-profit organization Kids Need to Read with author PJ Haarsma. Nathan is an avid fan of video games and he collects comic books. Nathan is deaf in his left ear.
