Mike Pence (born Michael Richard Pence on June 7, 1959 in Columbus, Indiana) is an American politician. He started his career working as an attorney in private practice. He continued to practice law after he unsuccessfully ran twice for Congress. In 1991, Mike became the President of the Indiana Review Foundation, a “free-market think tank.” He left in 1994 to begin the Mike Pence Show on talk radio. In November 2000, Mike was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in Indiana’s 2nd Congressional District. In 2006, he announced his candidacy for the leader of the Republican Party in the House of Representatives, but he lost to John Boehner of Ohio. In May 2011, Mike announced he would seek the Republican nomination for Governor of Indiana in 2012. On November 2, 1012 Mike won the election and became the 50th Governor of Indiana on January 14, 2016. He announced he was running for a second term as governor in May 2016, but has since been announced as Donald Trump‘s running mate for Vice President.
