Lindsey Graham (born Lindsey Olin Graham on July 9, 1955 in Central, South Carolina) is an American politician. Lindsey was the first member of his family to attend college. He joined the Reserve Officer’s Training Corp, which allowed him to attend University of South Carolina. He graduated in 1977 with a B.A. in Psychology. He completed his Law degree from University of South Carolina in 1981. Lindsey was a Judge Advocate in the US Air Force in 1982 until 1989, before joining the South Carolina Air National Guard until 1995. He joined the Air Force Reserve in 1995, serving as a Judge Advocate during the Gulf War. In 1992, Lindsey was elected to the South Carolina House of Representatives. He served until 1994, when he was elected to the US House of Representatives. He served four terms. In 2002, he was decided to run for the Senate, replacing the retiring Strom Thurmond. Lindsey was reelected in 2008 and 2014. In June 2015, Lindsey announced that he would seek the Republican nomination for the 2016 Presidential election.

Personal Life:
When Lindsey was 21, his mother died of Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. 15 months later, his father passed due to a heart attack. His 13-year old sister was left orphaned, until Lindsey became her legal guardian. He was a member of the Pi Kappa Phi fraternity in college. Lindsey is a close friend with Senator John McCain. He has never married and has no children.
